What the D2 Survivors download needs
The D2 Survivors desktop app does not include Diablo II's art or sound. It reads them from a copy of Diablo II with Lord of Destruction (patch 1.14) or Diablo II: Resurrected that you already own and have installed. Set that folder once in D2 Survivors and the app keeps what it needs in its own folder. Your game files are read locally and are not uploaded.
On Windows, use the 64-bit installer on Windows 10 or 11. On Mac, the current build is for Apple silicon, so an M1, M2, M3 or newer Mac is the supported option. The browser version of D2 Survivors works on Windows, macOS and Linux, provided you can point it at your Diablo II install.
D2 Survivors browser or desktop app
The browser version is the quickest start: open the game, choose the hosted files to try D2 Survivors right away, or select your own Diablo II folder for the intended setup. The hosted option is temporary and the developer plans to remove it, so a browser player who wants to keep playing should set up their own files. The desktop app avoids that browser storage step, runs offline and keeps itself up to date.
Both versions share saves through Options → Transfer Save. That means you can start D2 Survivors in the browser and move the save into the app later, or go the other way when you want to play on a different machine.
Before you install D2 Survivors
D2 Survivors is an unofficial fan project made by framara. It is not affiliated with, endorsed, sponsored or approved by Blizzard Entertainment, Inc., and the download does not include any Blizzard game files. You still need your own Diablo II or Diablo II: Resurrected licence. D2 Survivors is free, with no ads and no purchases; tips on Ko-fi support the developer but unlock nothing in the game.
If a download link does not start, open it in a new tab or try another browser. If the app cannot find your game files, select the Diablo II or D2R install folder again and check the version: classic Diablo II must be the 1.14 Lord of Destruction patch.
D2 Survivors Download: FAQ
Is there a D2 Survivors download for Windows?
Yes. The developer publishes a Windows installer called D2-Survivors-Setup-win-x64.exe. The download link on this page points to the file on d2survivors.lol; this site does not host the installer.
Is there a D2 Survivors download for Mac?
Yes, for Macs with Apple silicon. The file is D2-Survivors-mac-arm64.dmg, and it comes from the developer's site. There is no Intel Mac build listed, so an older Intel Mac should use the browser version instead.
Do I need Diablo II installed for D2 Survivors?
The intended version of D2 Survivors reads art and sound from your own Diablo II with Lord of Destruction (patch 1.14) or Diablo II: Resurrected. Keep that install on the same computer and point D2 Survivors at it once.
What is the difference between the D2 Survivors download and the browser version?
It is the same game. The browser version needs nothing installed and runs in a desktop browser tab. The D2 Survivors desktop app runs in its own window, works offline and updates itself, which makes it the better long-term option once the temporary hosted files are removed.
Is the D2 Survivors download free?
Yes. D2 Survivors is free with no ads and no purchases. Ko-fi tips support the developer's time and do not unlock any game content.
Where are D2 Survivors saves stored?
Saves stay in browser storage in the browser version, or in the app's folder in the desktop version. Options has a Transfer Save tool for moving a save between the browser and the desktop app.
Does D2 Survivors run on Linux?
There is no Linux desktop app. The browser version of D2 Survivors works in a desktop browser on Linux, as long as your Diablo II files are available on that machine.
